Justice Department Appeals to Texas to Win Challenging Congressional Proxy Votes in Covid Era

The federal government on Wednesday appealed a Trump judge’s decision to strike down parts of a $1.7 trillion spending package that Congress passed without a quorum during Covid-19 lockdowns.

An appeal filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit seeks to overturn a Feb. 27 order blocking the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 legislation.
