Rochdale: boy and dog in car driven at 240 km/h to escape police

The child was said to be sitting on the passenger’s lap.

The chase began in Bury New Road, Heywood, and continued for 13 minutes through Rochdale, towards Whitworth and back to Rochdale before the crash.

The car reached speeds of up to 150 mph, the force said.

Inspector Richard Shelton, of GMP’s Rochdale district, said: “The reckless actions of these offenders have put a three-year-old child at risk, as well as members of the public going about their daily activities.

“The speeds achieved are more than unacceptable and I am pleased that our officers acted quickly to secure these arrests, place the child under police protection and impound the vehicle.”
