Destiny USA Theater to Premiere “The Philadelphia Eleven” – a Story of Civil Disobedience in the Episcopal Church

(WSYR-TV) — The idea of ​​religion is that everyone is welcome, but for most of history, it was difficult for women to break through the so-called “stained glass ceiling.”

One film that highlights the dramatic breakthrough of 1974 is “The Philadelphia Eleven.” It launches today and Regal Destiny USA has a special event to celebrate.

Bishop Dede Duncan-Probe and Rev. Canon Megan Castellan joined Bridge Street to share more information about the award-winning film.

“Philadelphia Eleven” is a feature-length documentary that follows the story of a group of 11 women and their supporters in the 1970s who, in an act of civil disobedience, arranged for their ordination to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church.
